In a landmark event for the people of Warri Southwest Local Government Area, the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Francis F.O. Oborevwori, was warmly welcomed to Okerenkoko for the official commissioning of the lecture halls and offices at the Nigeria Maritime University.
This commissioning represents a crucial milestone in the ongoing efforts to bolster infrastructure and education in the region.
The event, which took place on Friday, October 4th, was attended by notable leaders, community members, and other dignitaries. Among them was Chief Sylvester Oromoni, the Executive Chairman of Warri Southwest Local Government Area, who expressed his profound gratitude and joy during an interview with the press, emphasizing the significance of the occasion.
Speaking to reporters, Chief Oromoni said, “We cannot overstate our appreciation for His Excellency’s relentless commitment to fulfilling the promises embedded in the M.O.R.E. Agenda. The governor’s leadership has brought about tangible development across Delta State, and today’s commissioning is a testament to his administration’s focus on improving infrastructure, education, and creating opportunities for future generations.”
The completion and commissioning of the lecture halls and offices at the Nigeria Maritime University have been hailed as a major leap forward for the institution and the local community. Even though the university is a federal government institution, this project stands as one of the interventionist initiatives of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)-led government in Delta State. Chief Oromoni stressed that such intervention reflects the state government’s dedication to supporting educational institutions, regardless of their ownership.
“This is not just about bricks and mortar; it is a reflection of visionary leadership that ensures every community, no matter how remote, benefits from the presence and influence of the government,” Chief Oromoni continued. “His Excellency’s efforts have uplifted the entire Warri Southwest community, and we are truly grateful.”
Chief Oromoni further praised Governor Oborevwori’s dedication to inclusive governance, stating, “We, the people of Warri Southwest, are grateful for His Excellency’s tireless efforts to ensure that every citizen enjoys the dividends of democracy. His commitment to advancing the M.O.R.E. Agenda is evident in every project, and we assure him of our continued support as he works towards the further development of our beloved Delta State.”
The event marks yet another success in Governor Oborevwori’s administration, which continues to prioritize education, infrastructure, and equitable development throughout Delta State. The commissioning of the new facilities at the Nigerian Maritime University stands as a shining example of the governor’s forward-thinking approach to governance and his commitment to delivering on promises made to the people.
