AFCON Qualiifiers: Osimhen Out, Lookman In As Nigeria Name Squad (FULL LIST)

Victor Osimhen has been excluded from Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya.

Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen, in a squad released on Saturday, left Osimhen out due to injury concerns but included in-form Atalanta striker Ademola Lookman in the 23-man lineup.

The squad features key players like captain William Ekong, wingers Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze, as well as Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Stanley Nwabali, and Victor Boniface.

Defender Bright Osayi-Samuel returns after missing the September qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda. Playmaker Chidera Ejuke also makes a comeback after a lengthy absence.

Nigeria will face Libya in a doubleheader, hosting the Mediterranean Knights at Uyo’s Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday, October 11, before traveling to Benghazi for the return leg at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium on Tuesday, October 15.

All invited players are expected to report to camp in Uyo by Monday, October 7.
