The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) has commenced preparations to handle complaints and petitions from party members, pledging a commitment to fairness and transparency.
After its inauguration on August 21, 2024, the NDC held preliminary meetings on August 21, September 28, and September 30, 2024, in preparation for its crucial and challenging duties. This was disclosed in a statement signed by Chief Tom Ikimi, the NDC chairman, on Saturday.
“As the NDC sets to commence its sitting/hearing, and while looking forward to the receipt of Petitions and Complaints from aggrieved members, through the National Working Committee NWC, or as may be appropriately brought to its notice, the NDC hereby assures the generality of Party members, including the PDP leadership and all stakeholders, of its preparedness to deal with all Complaints/Petitions fairly, firmly and transparently,” the committee stated.
The NDC reiterated its commitment to adhering to the PDP constitution, which outlines the “offences and sanctions” applicable to party conduct.
“We are hopeful that our fairness, firmness, and decisiveness will restore the hope and confidence of our great party to meet the expectations of our teeming membership nationwide and the suffering Nigerian public that is desperate now for an appropriate National Leadership,” the statement added.
To facilitate its operations, the NDC called upon all party members and leadership to offer the necessary support and cooperation.
“We therefore urge all members of the PDP and its leadership to give the committee the support and cooperation necessary to carry out its assignment successfully,” the PDP concluded in the statement.
