According to the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tanko Sununu, the revised curriculum, which integrates moral values, is designed to promote societal reorientation and revive Nigeria’s social values.
Speaking at the launch of teacher training and sensitization materials on moral reorientation in Abuja on Wednesday, Dr. Sununu highlighted that the new curriculum will not only enhance academic skills but also instill an ethical foundation to foster positive societal contributions.
He stated, “The revised curriculum, to be launched at the National Council of Education (NCE) meeting, has been designed to instill values that address our orientation needs and foster social regeneration. Our goal is to nurture a generation of learners who are not only academically competent but also emotionally intelligent, socially responsible, and morally upright.”
The Minister explained that the new approach aims to engage students in discussions on values and ethics, moving beyond traditional teaching methods. He emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to ongoing investment in teacher development to ensure educators are equipped to meet students’ evolving needs.
Dr. Sununu also reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s dedication to prioritizing education and advancing teacher professional development.
