The naira ended the week weaker against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market.
According to FMDQ data, the naira depreciated to N1,543.03 per dollar on Friday, down from N1,541.23 on Thursday, marking a loss of N1.8.
However, in the unofficial market, the naira strengthened, closing at N1,655 per dollar on Friday, up from N1,660 the previous day, gaining N5. Notably, Thursday saw the naira’s first appreciation against the dollar.
Waffi TV reported Thursday that the CBN introduced non-resident Nigerian ordinary and investment accounts to encourage FX remittances from the diaspora.
