The Delta State Ministry of Environment has issued a stern warning against littering in the state.
According to a statement signed on Tuesday by the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Mr Jamani Ejiro, residents and travelers are prohibited from throwing waste from vehicles, tricycles, or motorcycles (Okadas).
The commissioner emphasises that violators will face immediate arrest and prosecution by mobile courts strategically deployed across the state.
The statement read, “throwing waste from moving Vehicles, Tricycle or Motorcycles (Okada) is strictly prohibited. Offenders will be apprehended and prosecuted by a Mobile Courts set across the state”.
The initiative, branded as #OperationDeltaMustBeClean, is part of the government’s drive to maintain a clean and sustainable environment.
He urged citizens to comply with the law to avoid penalties and support a healthier Delta State.
