My Life Got Better After Mohbad’s Death- Singer’s Father

Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa, popularly known as Mohbad, has stated that his life improved following his son’s death.

He shared this revelation during an interview with media personality Akin Abolade, also known as Mrlilgaga, on Wednesday.

“Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend. He had it in plan to do many things for me but they didn’t allow him to do them. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad, and that of God combined together that began to send people to assist me.

“Even the car and everything I have now, it was people that gave them to me and it is beyond ordinary. So it is the spirit of Mohbad and God that led those people to give me all I have now.

“Those were the things he was meant to be doing for me, but they didn’t allow him to do them,” he added.

Clarifying insinuations towards those accused, Mohbad’s father noted that he was laying emphasis on his son’s wife (Wunmi) and her family, adding, “They did a lot concerning that boy (Mohbad). All his landed property is in their possession. Even the land he bought for me to build a church, I forced him to buy and mold the blocks on it, which was later used to bury him.

“Two weeks before his death, he took me to the house he wanted to buy and told me he was going to buy it after the completion of his tour, for which I know he had completely paid.”

Joseph Aloba shared that the birth of Mohbad inspired him to pursue a singing career after money from the naming ceremony was stolen, noting that his late son became his backup singer at just one year old.

Aloba described himself as a carpenter, singer, and pastor, although he does not currently lead a church. He revealed that Mohbad had promised to build him a church before his untimely passing.

During a tour of his newly established block industry with media personality Akin Abolade (Mrlilgaga), Aloba showcased his new truck and Toyota Highlander, gifts from compassionate Nigerians following his son’s death.

He also mentioned releasing about nine songs since Mohbad’s passing.

Mohbad died on September 11, 2023, in Lagos at the age of 26. On September 19, the Lagos State Police Command arrested a nurse, reported by Mohbad’s spouse to have administered a Tetanus vaccine to him. It was later discovered that the nurse was unlicensed.
