Police Arrest 2 Specialised In Killing Cab Drivers In Delta

Two murder suspects, known for targeting cab drivers and stealing their vehicles, have been apprehended along the Warri-Sapele road.

Delta State Police spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this yesterday. He revealed that the suspects, after picking up a commercial sex worker near a busy chain store at Effurun roundabout, called a cab driver who took them to a drinking spot in the Othesubi area and later to Aziza junction on Warri-Sapele road.

During the journey, one suspect allegedly grabbed the driver’s neck from the backseat, and together, they strangled him to death in front of the terrified woman. They then pushed her out of the vehicle, dumped the driver’s body by the roadside, and fled with the cab.

A police spokesman said: “They approached her and negotiated the sum of 50,000 and took her to one club. After the club, they invited a cab man, and the cab man took them to a bar at Osubi. They instructed the cab man to go to Aziza junction in Warri Sapele road, upon getting there, to her surprise, one of the suspects strangled the driver while in motion and she was beaten and asked to bend her face down. After killing the driver, they dragged the driver out and then abandoned the girl in the bush. The same syndicate also attacked another cab driver in Benin, but the Cab driver escaped abandoning the vehicle with them. Consequently, on 2st of January 2025, the syndicate brought the car stolen in Benin to scrap yard in Warri to sell.

“The scrap dealers who were suspected called the DPO Ekpan who came and arrested them. The two suspects Junior Emmanuel ‘m’ age 33yrs and Julius Samuel ‘m’ age 28yrs confessed that they were serial car snatchers and were the ones who murdered the cab man at Osubi on 15th December 2024. The two vehicles have been recovered from them. “
