The Ijaw National Congress (INC) has called on Ohanaeze Ndigbo to avoid making inflammatory statements that could escalate tensions in Rivers State.
INC Worldwide’s National Publicity Secretary, Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha, made this appeal on Monday through a statement issued in Asaba, Delta State.
Oyakemeagbegha’s remarks were in response to a media report attributed to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, which expressed support for the 27 lawmakers who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The attention of the leadership of INC Worldwide has been drawn to an online publication credited to Ohaneze Ndigbo backing the 27 lawmakers, who have forfeited their seats, arising from their cross-carpeting to another party.
“The INC, therefore, advises the Ohaneze to concentrate on how to resolve their internal crisis within its Organisation and leave the politics of Rivers State.
“The INC ponders with keen concern the recent interest the Ohaneze Ndigbo has developed in Rivers State,” Oyakemeagbegha said.
