Ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been placed in Group C alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The three-time African champions are determined to reclaim glory in Morocco by securing their fourth AFCON title, following a narrow loss to Côte d’Ivoire in the previous final. The draw, conducted on Monday in Rabat, set the stage for a highly competitive tournament, with host nation Morocco drawn in Group A alongside Mali, Zambia, and Comoros.
Holders Cote d’Ivoire are in Group F along with Cameroon, Gabon and Mozambique.

AFCON 2025: Nigeria Road to Redemption
Following the 2025 AFCON draw on Monday, Nigeria are up against a diverse mix of opponents in Group C.
Tunisia, a perennial contender, will test Nigeria’s mettle, while Uganda and Tanzania bring energy and unpredictability to the group.
The Super Eagles have a rich AFCON history, boasting three championships in 1980, 1994, and 2013.
Tournament Schedule
The 2025 AFCON will kick off on December 21, 2025, with group stage matches running until December 31, excluding Christmas Day.
The knockout rounds are scheduled as follows:
- Round of 16: January 3-6, 2026
- Quarter-finals: January 9-10, 2026
- Semi-finals: January 14, 2026
- Third-Place Playoff: January 17, 2026
- Final: January 18, 2026
