Over 8,000 Students Empowered As kingsley Otuaro Hosts ‘Power Of Your Mind’ Conference In Asaba

– A Leadership That Puts People First

In a time when many leaders are more concerned about personal gains, it’s refreshing to see someone who still believes in the power of giving back, even when they no longer hold public office. His Excellency, Deacon Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Esq., a former Deputy Governor of Delta State, has proven once again that leadership isn’t just about holding a position but about making an impact where it matters most—the lives of young people.

Over the weekend, Asaba played host to a remarkable gathering of over 8,000 plus secondary school students from Oshimili North and South LGAs as Otuaro, in collaboration with the Loveworld Teens and Youth Ministry, Ministry Centre Warri, organized the Power of Your Mind Conference. The event, inspired by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s best-selling book, aimed to reshape how young people see themselves and their future.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF LEADER

Let’s be real—how many politicians do we know that still spend their personal money to empower people after leaving office? Most times, the trend is the opposite: they invest in projects that will bring them wealth, power, or political mileage. But here’s Kingsley Otuaro, out of office, spending his resources to build the next generation. That speaks volumes.
It tells us one thing—he’s not in it for himself. He’s genuinely invested in the future of young Nigerians. And in a country where so many youths feel neglected, where leaders often turn their backs once elections are over, this kind of commitment is rare.
THE MIND IS THE GREATEST ASSET
At the event, Otuaro spoke with a deep passion, addressing the students like a father speaking to his own children.
“Your mind is the control center of your life. It will either push you forward or hold you back. If you want to change your future, start by changing your thoughts,” he told the crowd.
His message was simple but profound—your success in life isn’t just about where you were born or what school you attended, but about the way you think. He challenged the students to be intentional about their mindset, because their thoughts shape their actions, and their actions determine their future.
LESSONS THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME
The conference wasn’t just about motivational speeches; it was a masterclass in mental transformation. Some of the key lessons that students took away included:

. Your Mind is Your Greatest Asset – If you can master your thoughts, you can master your life.
. What You Think About, You Become – Quoting Proverbs 23:7, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he,” the students were reminded that they are products of their dominant thoughts.
. Success is More Than Just School Grades – While education is important, success requires a mindset of creativity, problem-solving, and leadership.
. Faith and Mental Strength Go Hand-in-Hand – A renewed mind isn’t just about positive thinking; it’s about aligning your thoughts with God’s purpose for your life.
. You Are in Control of Your Future – Regardless of background or circumstances, every student was encouraged to take responsibility for their own destiny.

A MOMENT THAT CHANGED LIVES
Looking around the venue, the impact of the event was visible. Young faces that came in unsure, uncertain, and weighed down by the realities of life were now lit with excitement and purpose.

For many, it was their first time hearing someone tell them, “You can be great,” and truly believing it.
Chidinma Eze, a senior secondary student, couldn’t hide her excitement. “I feel like I just woke up from a dream. Before now, I didn’t really think much about my future, but today, I know I can shape it. I’m leaving here with a new mindset!”
For John Okafor, another student in attendance, the event was a game-changer. “I always thought my background would determine my future, but now I see that it’s my mind that will. I’m grateful for this experience.”

WHY THIS MATTERS FOR NIGERIA
In a country where many young people struggle with a sense of hopelessness—whether due to unemployment, poor governance, or lack of opportunities—programs like this are life-saving. They remind us that Nigeria’s future is not lost, that there’s still hope, and that our greatest resource is not oil or natural gas, but the young minds waiting to be empowered.

Otuaro’s initiative is a direct investment in that future. And if more leaders followed this example—mentoring, guiding, and empowering the youth instead of just using them for political campaigns—Nigeria would be on a much brighter path.

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING

As the event came to a close, Otuaro reassured the students that this was just the start of something greater.
“This is not a one-time event. We will continue to invest in you because you are the future of Delta State, and of Nigeria,” he promised.
Each student left with not just a renewed mindset, but also a copy of Power of Your Mind to continue their personal transformation journey.

FINAL THOUGHTS

What Otuaro has done here is more than just a conference—it’s a statement. A statement that true leadership is about impact, not power. A statement that even outside of government, you can still change lives. A statement that Nigeria still has leaders who genuinely care.

And as we look at the 8,000 plus students who walked into that event uncertain but walked out inspired, one thing is clear: the future is bright.
Now, the real question is—who else is willing to step up and do the same?
