25-year-old Boy Sentenced To Jail With Hard Labour

The Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Agbor, has sentenced a 25-year-old boy, Daniel Nwandu, from Imo State to prison for one year with hard labour in Ika south local government area of Delta State.

Chief Justice F.I Dike, who presided over the Chief Magistrate Court 1, Alihamie, Agbor, Ika south council, said Nwandu would have been released with an option of fine but considering the spike of motorcycle theft and other criminal cases, he would serve a one-year jail term with hard labor to serve as a deterrent to others who are engaged in criminality.

Speaking with newsmen, Barr. J.C Ebu who led the team of lawyers standing for Agbor Gha-Ihun Vigilante he lauded Chief Justice Dike for his fair ruling expressing satisfaction as the judgment will serve as a deterrent to unrepentant motorcycle thieves in the area.

Barr. Ebu appreciated the members of Agbor Gha-Ihun Vigilante led by Comr. Monday Kiyem for their commitment and doggedness in fighting crime in Agbor and environ.

He further enjoined residents of the Ika nation to be security conscious most especially during the yuletide season. He said the team of lawyers standing for members of Agbor Gha-Ihun Vigilante in seeking justice are in solidarity to support their efforts.

On his part, a delegate of the Agbor Royal palace who accompanied the members of Agbor Gha-Ihun to court, Chief Patrick Ebegboni Nwaonicha said the court ruling is another victory for the security group.

He said the Dein of Agbor kingdom, His Royal Majesty Dr. Benjamin Ikenchukwu is a lover of security.

While disclosing that he was accompanied by Chief Edison, the Elema of Agbor Kingdom, stressed that the ruling of the Chief Magistrate is fair, saying that it is unfair for strangers from faraway to come to Agbor to steal, thus tarnishing the image of the Kingdom.

Also responding, Barr. E.O.C Okojie said the judgment has shown that it is no longer child’s play to steal motorcycles and go scot-free.

He added that the judgment was a plus for them and appreciated Chief Justice Dike for being firm in his ruling.

Responding, Comr. Kiyem who doubles as SA to the Delta State Governor on Security said their victory was a victory for the Agbor Kingdom in checkmating crime in the area. He equally appreciated the Chief judge for being fair in his ruling.

It would be recall that operatives of a local security outfit, Agbor Gha-Ihun Vigilante Group The Chief Magistrate Court 1, sitting in Agbor, has remanded a youth identified as Daniel, at the Correctional center in Agbor, Ika south local government area of Delta state.

The suspect who is a none indigene of Agbor, landed in court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Agbor in connivance with his cohort who is at large.
