… Voluntarily Withdraws Interest at Political Meeting in Warri
Warri : The Convener of the popular Aladja-Ogbe-Ijoh Peace Vanguard, Pastor Layefa Enienghan has voluntarily withdrawn from the councillorship race in Ogbe-Ijoh Ward 1. in Warri south-west local government
Comrade Layefa officially announced his withdrawal from the race at a meeting convened by political leaders of Ogbe-Ijoh ward, led by Chief Frank Omare, at the weekend.
The Peace Ambassador told Chief Omare and others that his decision to bow out of the councillorship race was to enable him champion the ongoing Aladja-Ogbe-Ijoh peace process to a successful conclusion, and also to avoid public misinterpretation of his involvement in the peace initiative.
Rev. Layefa Enienghan said it was a very hard decision for him to make, especially when he was being propelled by his political supporters to continue, and assuring him that he was the most preferred councillorship aspirant in his ward.
He said for the sake of peace between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities, he had earlier announced his decision to sacrifice his political interest, in the presence of coordinators and members of the Peace Vanguard, as well as to the Chairmen of Udu and Warri South West Local Govts, and the lawmakers representing the two Council Areas at the State House of Assembly, during the Peace Vanguard’s consultation visits to stakeholders.
Layefa, however, thanked his supporters for their belief in him, and appealed for peaceful campaigns in the councillorship race in the four State Wards.
He also urged the people of Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities to make more sacrifices like him towards achieving total and permanent peace in the two underdeveloped sister communities.
