The Lagos state commissioner for health Professor Akin Abayomi, has described as fake news, the reports making the rounds that he was tested positive to the coronavirus pandemic.
Our reporter noticed that the commissioner, who confirmed the case of 10 staff of the Lagos state government House, urged the public to disregard the report that he was also tested positive to the Covid-19.
Abayomi in a Tweet on his twitter page @ProfAkinAbayomi on Friday, May 8, said that he is hale and hearty, in good health, and has continued in his capacity as the deputy incident commander of the COVID-19.

Popular Nigerian TV ace broadcaster tests positive for COVID-19, family speaks Also in a statement by the Lagos state ministry of health signed by its director of public affairs unit, Tunbosun Ogunbanwo, the ministry described the report as absolute falsehood and fabricated in its entirety, adding that mischief-makers who are out to create unnecessary panic and fear amongst the populace were behind the fallacy.
The ministry said: “The attention of the Lagos state ministry of health has been drawn to fake reports making the rounds that the commissioner for health, @ProfAkinAbayomi has tested positive to COVID-19 infection.
“We hereby urge the public to disregard this absolute falsehood and fabricated report in its entirety. This is the handwork of mischief makers who are out to create unnecessary panic and fear amongst the populace.
“@ProfAkinAbayomi is hale and hearty, in good health and has continued in his capacity as the Deputy Incident Commander of the #COVID19Lagos Intervention to coordinate activities and response in order to break the chain of transmission of the infection in Lagos.

It was reported that the House also charged the governor to make recourse to it before declaring a state of emergency even during a particular situation like currently being experienced on COVID-19 deadly pandemic.
The resolution followed the observation raised by the state attorney-general and commissioner for justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) on a recently passed bill tagged, “Coronavirus Pandemic Emergency Law, 2020.
