I’m Totally Committed To Super Eagles Progress – Leon Balogun

Waffi TVOctober 13, 2021

Rangers’ Leon Balogun has defended his commitment to the Nigeria national side after criticism was directed at him over his performances.

The centre back was held responsible for the goal conceded in a historic defeat to Central African Republic last week after a mix-up with William Troost-Ekong.

However, the 33-year-old redeemed himself by scoring in the return game – his first strike for the Super Eagles – before making way late on with an injury.

Blame was placed on Balogun as local media critiqued his performance in the first of the two matches.

But he refused to have his commitment questioned and said he will always give 100 per cent of himself when he plays for Nigeria.

“You’ve seen me play for a few years now,” he told ESPN. “And you know that when I step onto the pitch I always give 100 per cent and I am always passionate.

“Whether I am having a good performance or a bad performance, you can never actually criticise me for not trying. That is what I always give, that is the least I can do.”

Balogun is one of three Rangers players who were away with Nigeria for internationals, alongside Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey.
