Warri : In a live interview with WAFFI TV, the media and publicity rep of the Ijaw Youth Council, Prince Francis Tabai spoke on the preparations of the upcoming national election of the ijaw youth council slated for the 10th and 11th of july 2020.
The representative of the Ijaw Youth Council spoke on the preparations of the Eleco board and all the safety measures put in place to ensure a peaceful, free and fair election at Oporoza, in Gbaramatu kingdom.
“Everything needed to be put in place for a peaceful election, has been put in place. The eleco and delegates are ready, and the eleco board is working with the Oporoza people to ensure a smooth, peaceful and credible election”
He debunked the fast spreading rumor of the postponement of the election from the slated date(10th-11th) as a result of the constitutional conflict between members of the electoral committee.
“During federal elections, rumors like this are common, how much more the IYC national election. The eleco has not raised any issues of postponement, rather they have been seriously working towards the stipulated date because the elections have been delayed for a period of 4-5 months as a result of the covid-19 pandemic and other arising challenges”
He also made emphasis on he precautionary measures taken by the eleco to avoid the spread of covid-19, which includes:
8 metres social distance, hand wash and running water at different point, emergency ambulance, temperature check, compulsory use of sanitizers and facemask.
