A bouncer working at a nightclub has been taken into custody on accusations of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. The incident allegedly occurred at a location on Ojike Street, in the Mile 1 area of the Diobu community, within the Port Harcourt region of Rivers State.
According to a local source, the bouncer, known as Obidiah, asked the young girl to purchase a mobile phone recharge card for him. Upon her return, he instructed her to bring the recharge card into a room. Once inside, Obidiah reportedly locked the door, turned up the volume of his radio, and proceeded to engage in sexual intercourse with her.
The source elaborated that a fellow tenant grew concerned when the minor took an unusually long time to exit the room and subsequently questioned her about the delay.
The source said, “So, the girl now narrated to the co-tenant of the suspect what transpired and he, in turn, alerted the Mile 1 Police Division. So policemen came and arrested him on Sunday.
In response to inquiries, Grace Iringe-Koko, the State Police Public Relations Officer, verified the occurrence and stated that the suspect had been apprehended. She further mentioned that a preliminary police investigation revealed that the perpetrator had engaged in sexual penetration with the girl.
“The command is aware of the incident, and the suspect has been arrested as we speak. The matter has been transferred from the Mile 1 Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt for discreet investigation,” the PPRO said.
