Super Eagles duo Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina have reached out to Nigerian fans, offering reassurance that the team remains determined to secure a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Following a disappointing home draw that dented Nigeria’s qualification hopes, the 2013 AFCON champions now find themselves in fourth place in Group C with seven points from five matches, trailing group leaders South Africa by six points.
In an effort to uplift the spirits of supporters, Fulham midfielder Iwobi took to his Snapchat story with an optimistic message, declaring:
"We will qualify for the World Cup, by God’s grace."
Soon after, Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina shared a similar message on his social media, reassuring fans of the team's commitment."We will qualify for this World Cup," the former Torino FC defender wrote.
Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen gave the Super Eagles the lead with a powerful header in the 74th minute, but Zimbabwe's Tawanda Chirewa struck in the 90th minute to secure a late equalizer for the visitors.
As the pressure intensifies ahead of the final qualifying matches, Nigeria remains in pursuit of a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to take place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
