Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has taken a swipe at politicians who campaign on the promise of serving only one term in office, labeling such pledges as both irrational and deceptive. Speaking during a political rally in Anambra South on Saturday to promote his re-election bid, the former Central Bank of Nigeria governor said any politician making such a vow should be subjected to a mental health evaluation. “How can anybody with a functioning brain say that? Do you think you’re speaking to fools? “You come to people and say you will do only one term, any politician who says that must be sent to a psychiatric home because the person must have some mental problem,” Soludo said. His comments follow recent statements by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who proposed a single six-year term for the presidency. Likewise, Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate and former Anambra governor, expressed willingness to serve only one term in the spirit of equity and zoning.
