Beauty Warejuowei Joins HYREP Governing Council In President Tinubu’s Fresh Appointments

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the Governing Council and Board of Trustees of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYREP), appointing Beauty Warejuowei as an alternate member representing the Niger Delta. Warejuowei will serve alongside Joseph Akedesuo as alternate members for the Niger Delta, while Rev. Canon Dr Abraham Olungwe (reappointed) and Engr. Maeba Power Ekpobari will serve as alternate members representing Ogoniland. The Governing Council, chaired by the Minister of Environment, also includes: Loanyie Barituka Victor – representing NGOs focused on the environment Bright Onyebuchi Jacob and Henry Obiabure – representing Niger Delta communities Professor Barinedum Michael Nwibere and Barrister Baride Abdul Gwezia – representing the Ogoni Community Gideon Onyebuwa Melfor and Dr Ibikunle Omotehinse – representing the nine oil-producing states On the HYREP Board of Trustees, President Tinubu reappointed Emmanuel Nwiika Deeyah as Chairman. Other members include: Fred Mbombo Igwe and Dr Fred Barivule Kpakol – representing Ogoni communities and stakeholders Mrs Dorcas Amos – representing other Niger Delta communities Chief Jide Damazio (reappointed) – representing environmental NGOs The appointments are part of the federal government’s renewed commitment to accelerating environmental restoration in Ogoniland and other oil-impacted areas of the Niger Delta. For many in the region, Warejuowei’s inclusion signals recognition of her advocacy for environmental justice and her dedication to improving the lives of Niger Delta residents.
