Kidnappers in Delta State allegedly shot a victim in the leg after finding insufficient funds in his bank account, despite already withdrawing ₦2 million ransom from him.
The state police command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest of three suspects — Chukwuebuka Nka, Uche Okechukwu, and Somto Chukwuma — who reportedly admitted to the crime.
According to the police, the victim was abducted from his residence in Ogwashi-Uku. Acting on a distress call, operatives tracked the suspects to a bush in the area, where the victim was rescued with a gunshot injury.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Nka and Okechukwu in Anambra State, where the victim’s white Toyota Venza was also recovered. Based on their confessions, a raid on their hideout in Agidiase village, Ogwashi-Uku, resulted in the arrest of the third suspect.
The police also recovered the gang’s operational vehicle and a network jammer device from the hideout.
