Popular publisher and activist Omoyele Sowore has warned that he will pursue legal action for defamation if his name is “mistakenly” included in any national honours list issued by President Bola Tinubu. Sowore — the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement and a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) — made this known on Friday via his social media accounts, seemingly in response to speculation surrounding the potential recipients of the 2025 national awards. “If I were mistakenly included by Tinubu on his ‘National Award’ list, I would not only reject and denounce the award but also take definitive legal action for defamation,” Sowore wrote. A vocal critic of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government, Sowore has consistently expressed strong opposition to President Tinubu’s leadership style and policy direction. He has repeatedly accused the administration of corruption, misgovernance, and the suppression of civil liberties.
