A man in Adamawa State has died after being stabbed by his younger brother during a dispute over a N200 piece of meat. The victim, Friday Murya, was fatally wounded by his brother, Monday Murya, a butcher, after a heated argument over the unpaid meat. In the process, Monday also stabbed another elder brother, Sinairu Murya, who attempted to intervene. Sinairu is currently receiving treatment at Dumne Cottage Hospital in Song LGA. The incident occurred on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in Waltadi community, Dumne, after Friday took the meat without paying, leading to a confrontation. Witnesses said Monday demanded payment, but Friday resisted, escalating into a fight where Monday used a knife to stab him. Friday was rushed to Modibbo Adama Teaching Hospital, Yola, where he later died. As of Tuesday morning, the Adamawa State Police Command has yet to comment on the incident. Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje stated he has not been briefed on the case.
