The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has appealed to Nigerians not to rush to judgment against Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, over allegations of Naira abuse. This comes in the wake of a viral video from Tompolo’s 54th birthday celebration, where he was seen dancing as a man sprayed ₦1,000 notes on him. Following the video's circulation, some Nigerians accused the EFCC of bias and challenged the agency to arrest Tompolo to prove it was not engaging in selective enforcement. In a Sunday interview with TVC, Olukoyede revealed that Tompolo has been invited for questioning and emphasized that he should not be presumed guilty until investigations are complete. He also revealed that the viral video has been subjected to forensic analysis, suggesting that the clip may have been doctored. Olukoyede said, “We have invited Tompolo, the whole Nigerians know that, and we said there is no human that is above the law. “Nobody should go and condemn Tompolo for the allegation. It’s a mere allegation for now. We have subjected the video to forensic analysis because these days, people can impose… you know? “Not until we conclude the case, we cannot say Tompolo is guilty or not. We must give every Nigerian fair hearing or benefit of doubt.”
