The naira appreciated to ₦1,585 per dollar in the parallel market yesterday, up from ₦1,590 per dollar last weekend. Similarly, it strengthened in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), trading at ₦1,543 per dollar. According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the official exchange rate improved by ₦11, moving from ₦1,554 per dollar last Friday to ₦1,543 per dollar. As a result, the gap between the parallel market and NFEM rates narrowed to ₦26 per dollar, down from ₦36 last weekend.
