The naira yesterday weakened to N1,540 per dollar in the parallel market, down from N1,535 per dollar recorded last weekend. Similarly, in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the naira depreciated to N1,535.5 per dollar. According to data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the official exchange rate rose to N1,535.5 per dollar from N1,534.5 per dollar last Friday, reflecting a N1 loss for the naira. As a result, the spread between the parallel market and NFEM rates remained steady at 50 kobo per dollar.
