The naira weakened to N1,630 per dollar in the parallel market on Friday, down from N1,625 on Thursday. Throughout the week, the currency showed a volatile trend, beginning with a drop to N1,610 per dollar. Compared to last weekend’s closing rate of N1,606, the naira has depreciated by 1.49 percent. Meanwhile, black market traders have blamed the continued depreciation on rising demand and limited dollar supply.
