
The naira yesterday weakened to ₦1,537 per dollar in the parallel market, down from ₦1,535 per dollar on Wednesday.
Similarly, in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the currency slipped to ₦1,498 per dollar.
According to data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the official rate rose to ₦1,498 per dollar from ₦1,485.5 per dollar on Tuesday, reflecting a ₦12.5 depreciation.
As a result, the gap between the parallel market and NFEM rates narrowed to ₦39 per dollar, compared to ₦49.95 per dollar on Tuesday.
