The naira yesterday strengthened slightly in the parallel market, appreciating to N1,518 per dollar from N1,520 on Monday. In contrast, it weakened in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), falling to N1,493.2 per dollar. According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the official exchange rate slipped from N1,491.4 per dollar on Monday to N1,493.2, reflecting a depreciation of N1.8. As a result, the gap between the parallel market and the NFEM rate narrowed to N24.8 per dollar, compared to N28.6 recorded on Monday.
