Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fast-tracking infrastructural development and economic growth in Delta, during a high-level meeting with top executives of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) in Beijing, China. Speaking at the global headquarters of the construction giant, Governor Oborevwori highlighted his administration’s development blueprint anchored on the MORE agenda — a strategic drive aimed at modernizing infrastructure, boosting economic diversification, and improving the living standards of Deltans. “Our vision is one of sustainable growth, economic transformation, and a globally competitive Delta State,” the Governor told the CCECC leadership, emphasizing his government's aggressive push to upgrade road networks, build new bridges, enhance public transportation, and link riverine and inland communities. Oborevwori, accompanied by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Public Infrastructure), Charles Aniagwu, and his Technical Assistant, Engr. Bob Nakpodia, used the opportunity to deepen ties with CCECC and showcase investment potentials across Delta’s economic sectors. He reiterated the significance of Delta’s long-standing relationship with CCECC, while marketing new prospects for collaboration aimed at attracting foreign direct investment and expanding the state’s revenue base. The Governor and his entourage were earlier taken on a tour of the corporation’s digital exhibition centre where landmark African infrastructure projects executed by CCECC were showcased. Welcoming the Delta delegation, CCECC President Chen Sichang praised the Governor’s leadership style, citing his emphasis on quality project delivery and financial prudence — values he said align with CCECC’s operational philosophy. He noted that since entering Nigeria in 1981, CCECC has executed major rail, road, and erosion control projects, creating employment for hundreds of Nigerians. The Beijing engagement marks another milestone in Oborevwori’s international outreach to position Delta State as a leading investment destination in sub-Saharan Africa.
