Nigerian singer Omah Lay has sparked concern among fans after revealing that his depression has returned.
The Afrobeats star, born Stanley Omah Didia, shared his struggles in a candid Snapchat post, linking his current mental health challenges to his recording contracts and business dealings in the music industry.
In the post, Omah Lay expressed frustration with both his management and his past decisions, writing:
"Fk contracts. Fk labels. Fk the music business. Fk my younger self. F**k my manager. God please, I’m losing my mind again."
This revelation comes just weeks after his split from former manager Muyiwa Awoniyi. While Awoniyi suggested that their separation was amicable, Omah Lay’s label mate Kaestyle claimed the singer had actually sacked his manager.
Omah Lay has been open about his mental health struggles in the past. His debut album, ‘Boy Alone’, released in July 2022, was accompanied by public discussions about his experiences with depression. He also revealed that his condition worsened following a sexual affair with his therapist, an incident he disclosed on social media.
Fans and fellow artists have expressed support for Omah Lay, while many await updates on how he plans to navigate this difficult period in his career.
