The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has fixed Friday, August 30, 2025, as the new date for the Local Government elections across all 23 Local Government Areas in the state. The announcement was made during a stakeholders' meeting held today, July 28, at the Commission's headquarters in Port Harcourt. At the meeting, RSIEC also released a revised timetable and updated electoral guidelines aimed at promoting a credible, transparent, and peaceful voting process. RSIEC Chairman, Michael Odey, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to upholding democratic standards, assuring political parties, civil society organisations, and the public of its readiness to deliver free and fair elections.
