The Nigerian House of Representatives has instructed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to ensure the immediate blocking of all pornographic websites in the country. Lawmakers also directed the NCC to compel internet service providers to restrict access to such content without delay. The motion was sponsored by Dalhatu Tafoki, an All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker from Katsina State, who argued that cyber pornography had become a global issue, and Nigeria had not taken sufficient action to curb it. Tafoki emphasized that Nigeria, as a "highly religious country," upholds moral values against nudity and obscenity, citing similar bans in parts of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. He also referenced expert warnings on pornography’s harmful effects, including links to adultery, prostitution, and addiction. Following a voice vote, the motion was passed, and the House ordered the NCC to penalize any service providers that fail to comply.
