Nollywood veteran, Rita Edochie, has stirred conversation with her bold reaction to a controversial statement made by a woman from Okoko who declared, “If my husband cheats on me, I will cheat back!”
The actress, known for her strong moral stance and outspoken nature, did not mince words as she countered what she described as "misguided and destructive advice."
In a powerful response, Edochie urged women to redirect their energy toward growth and partnership rather than retaliation in relationships.
“It should be: if my husband buys a car, I’ll buy one too.
If he pays the children’s school fees, I’ll pay too.
If he buys land, I’ll buy land.
If he starts building a house, I’ll start building too.
No be only bad thing una go promote,” she said.
She further emphasized that not every case of infidelity is intentional, blaming some relationship breakdowns on negative attitudes that push partners away.
“If dem check matters well, some of una husband no intentionally dey cheat, na una bad character pursue una husband go cheat.”
The actress also laid down a clear consequence for those who resort to cheating in retaliation.
“If your husband cheats and you decide to cheat back... straight packing out, without gathering the family or elders for meeting on your matter.”
Rita Edochie concluded with a word of caution, urging women to avoid toxic friendships and advice groups that promote vengeance over resolution.
“Stop listening or belonging to gathering of wrong advice,” she warned.
Her comments have ignited a mix of support and debate online, with many applauding her for encouraging women to focus on self-growth and healthy partnership rather than destructive tit-for-tat behavior.
