Hundreds of supporters of suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, staged a protest on Tuesday, demanding his reinstatement.
Dressed in black and holding placards with messages like “Together we stand for Governor Sim Fubara,” “We want back our Governor, we all voted for,” and “Governor Fubara is the pride of Rivers People,” the demonstrators began their march from Aggrey Road in Old Port Harcourt Township.
This protest marks the latest in a wave of demonstrations—both for and against the suspension—that have gripped the state since March 18, following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency and the suspension of Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and members of the state House of Assembly.
