President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the enforcement of the Nigeria First Policy, effectively banning the importation of foreign goods.
According to NTA, this was announced in a statement released on Wednesday.
The policy entails the immediate application of revised procurement thresholds for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), with a focus on prioritizing locally produced goods and services.
Tinubu explained that the decision followed a recommendation by the Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Adebowale Adedokun, in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The details of the implementation guidelines will be provided by the DG, BPP, Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, FCIPS, CMILT, ACFE,” a statement from the presidency stated.
