Award-winning singer and women's empowerment advocate, Tiwa Savage, has sparked conversation online with her no-nonsense message to young men: “Stop giving women money especially when you’re struggling yourself.” In a candid statement that’s quickly gone viral, Savage questioned the logic of broke men giving their last cash to women, insisting that such behavior is not only unwise but a form of self-sabotage. “As a struggling young man, what is your last ₦2,000 doing in a girl’s account?” she asked bluntly. “You are stingy will always be better than you are broke.” The Koroba crooner didn’t mince words as she criticized the rising trend of young men performing “husband duties” without being husbands. She encouraged men to first take care of themselves before trying to impress or financially support women who are not their wives. “Some of you are struggling because you're playing Father Christmas for someone who isn’t your responsibility,” she said. “Ask yourself: food dey my stomach? Light dey my house? I never dey craze like this?” In a humorous yet striking tone, Savage added that some men might actually be experiencing "small small craze" for spending money they don't have on women who can fend for themselves. “That girl you’re going hungry for has two hands and two legs like you. Do not take responsibilities that are not yours,” she concluded. The statement has stirred debates online, with many hailing her for shedding light on financial recklessness in relationships and encouraging young men to prioritize their own growth and stability.
