U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday warned Iran that any attack on the United States would be met with “the full strength” of the American military.
He also emphasized that Washington was not involved in Israel’s recent strikes on Iran’s nuclear and intelligence facilities.
The Israeli offensive, launched early Friday, reportedly targeted Iranian nuclear and military installations, resulting in the deaths of dozens, including senior military officials and nuclear scientists, according to Iranian authorities.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to strike “every target of the ayatollah regime,” prompting a deadly missile retaliation from Iran.
Although Trump acknowledged prior knowledge of the Israeli operation, he reiterated on his Truth Social account Sunday that the U.S. “had nothing to do with the attack on Iran, tonight.”
“If we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the US Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before,” he said in a post.
He also stated that “a deal between Iran and Israel can be easily reached to end this bloody conflict!!!”
On Friday, the former U.S. president urged Tehran to pursue a deal, warning that failure to do so could result in “even more brutal” Israeli attacks.
During his first term, Trump withdrew the United States from the landmark Iran nuclear agreement brokered under former President Barack Obama in 2018, reimposing sanctions and effectively dismantling the deal.
