Former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has expressed doubts about his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, succeeding in office.
Speaking to a large crowd of supporters on Saturday, Wike criticized Fubara for surrounding himself with individuals who, he claimed, do not have the state’s best interests at heart. According to Wike, these same individuals had vied for the governorship but were rejected in favor of Fubara.
Mocking the governor, Wike likened his situation to being "2-0 down," referencing the Supreme Court ruling that requires Fubara to re-present the 2025 budget to the Martin Amaewhule-led 27 lawmakers and reconduct local government elections.
