Senator Omo-Agege Details His Achievements As Delta Central Representative In A Meeting With Constituents of Delta Central Over Senatorial Position
EFFURUN – You must not remember him only with the “Mace Incident”. That is the clear message Senator Ovie Omo-Agege passed to constituents in a meeting held at the Red Chambers at the PTI Conference Center, PTI, in Effurun, Uvwie LGA of Delta State, which had in attendance, dignitaries like HRM, Ovie of Arhavwarien Kingdom, Solomon Okukeren III, the Ovie of Okparabe, and many others.
A number of crucial topics were covered by the senator, including, but not limited to, issues affecting the Urhobo people of Delta State, his achievements in his 2 years, 9 months, and 27 days in office representing the people of Delta Central, and the need to look inwards and discover what hinders the growth of the various Urhobo kingdoms.
According to him, his short stay in the chambers has attracted forty-three (43) federal government-funded projects (water, electricity, roads, health facilities) to the Urhobo people who he represents in Abuja. He added that he has sponsored 9 bills and co-sponsored 2 extra with two of his colleagues and as well, countless motions and petitions. He noted, when he needed to be clear on the financial figures surrounding the projects, that every senator is entitled to recommend projects worth about N220 million into the federal budget, while principal officers or higher-ranking senators can attract more.
On the utilisation of these constituency funds, the senator went on to present slides on a projected screen, projects that had been executed in his tenure, and various community members in attendance verified the truthfulness in those photo slides.
The high point of the ceremony was the introduction of the traditional rulers present at the meeting. The senator urged the presidents-general of various Urhobo kingdoms and the many traditional rulers that the key to seeing better development in his constituency was to look inwardly, find out in specifics, the major issues that they have as a people, and in effect, submit lists of what and what needs being done to him, and be assured of speedy response from the federal government to the various communities in Urhobo land.
The Urhobo people are proud of hi achievements and contributions to the growth of Nigeria, he added. And has observed and affirmed that they were ready to vote him in for a second tenure to continue the work he was doing.
