Bobrisky Warns Women About Men Using ‘Lagos Traffic’ as a Cover Up
Controversial social media personality and influencer, Bobrisky, has once again grabbed attention with a blunt and cheeky piece of advice to women navigating the murky waters of modern relationships in Nigeria. In a viral post laced with humor and subtle warning, Bobrisky called on women to be more vigilant when it comes to their partners, especially those who frequently use Lagos traffic as an excuse for coming home late. "If he always comes back late from work with the excuse of Lagos traffic, make sure you check him and confirm well o. These barbies are not smiling and the traffic issue has become another excuse for our sons of Adam." The message, while playful, taps into a deeper cultural issue many women in relationships face, trust and accountability. In a city like Lagos, where traffic congestion is a daily reality, it has become an all-too-convenient alibi for unfaithfulness or unaccounted hours, and Bobrisky is sounding the alarm in typical no-holds-barred fashion. By referring to "barbies," a term often used to describe fashionable and sometimes flirtatious women, Bobrisky paints a vivid picture of the competition and temptations out there. His message implies that some men may be taking advantage of their partner's trust and the chaotic Lagos lifestyle to engage in side affairs, leaving unsuspecting women in the dark. This latest post is not just another Bobrisky moment meant to stir drama; it speaks to real relational concerns in today’s fast-paced urban environment. Fans, as expected, had mixed reactions. Some laughed it off, calling it classic Bobrisky, while others admitted that the message hit a little too close to home. Bobrisky, who is known for bold statements and often controversial opinions on relationships, gender roles, and beauty standards, has a massive following and continues to be a lightning rod for social conversations in Nigeria and beyond. Whether taken as friendly advice or a spicy jab at unfaithful partners, Bobrisky’s latest post has once again placed him at the center of relationship debates and many women seem to be listening.

Annie Idibia Opens Up on Love, Endurance, and Her Newfound Peace
Nollywood actress and wife of legendary musician 2Baba, Annie Idibia, has sparked a fresh wave of conversations online after sharing a deeply personal and reflective post about the freedom and peace she now enjoys, after what appears to be years of silent endurance in the name of love. In a heartfelt and revealing message, the mother of two wrote: "Nothing feels as good as sleeping and waking up with a breath of fresh air, not some alcoholic stench and not waking up in the middle of the night from trembling snores! Under the guise of love, you keep enduring and never complain because if you do, people shoot you with ‘you no see am before you marry am?’ I'm free at last!" Though she didn’t mention names, the tone and content of the post have left fans speculating about whom the message might be directed at, especially given her history of being outspoken about the ups and downs in her relationship with 2Baba (Innocent Idibia). The couple, who have had their share of public and private struggles, have often been in the spotlight for their seemingly turbulent yet enduring love story. Annie’s message touches on a common reality for many women, choosing silence over confrontation in relationships to avoid public shame or ridicule. Her words, “under the guise of love, you keep enduring,” seem to reflect years of emotional weight, possibly stemming from unspoken sacrifices or unmet emotional needs. But this time, the tone is different. The message isn’t just one of reflection, it’s a declaration of liberation. Fans and followers have flooded her comment sections and social media with mixed emotions, some celebrating her strength and newfound joy, while others are left wondering if this marks a turning point in her personal life or marriage. Annie Idibia has long been admired for her resilience, her loyalty, and her vulnerability. From reality TV to heartfelt interviews, she has never hidden her struggles, choosing instead to be a voice for women who often feel trapped in the name of love. As her post continues to make waves, one thing is clear: Annie is stepping into a new season, one that’s defined by peace, clarity, and freedom, and she’s doing it unapologetically.

Tonto Dikeh Speaks on Love and Loyalty

In a post that quickly went viral, the actress and philanthropist shared: "Once I fall in love with you, you don't have to worry about putting me in a bottle, I'll enter the bottle myself ????????" Known for her candid personality and unfiltered take on life, Dikeh’s statement has sparked mixed reactions, ranging from admiration for her deep loyalty to concern over the vulnerability that such love entails. For those unfamiliar with the phrase, “entering the bottle” is a Nigerian colloquial expression often used to describe someone who becomes submissively devoted or controlled by love, sometimes to the point of losing themselves in a relationship. In Dikeh’s case, her message conveys a mix of self-awareness, commitment, and a subtle trace of heartbreak. The actress, who has experienced very public highs and lows in her romantic life, seems to be embracing both her humor and her hurt in this latest confession. While the laughing emoji suggests she’s taking it in stride, the broken heart emoji reveals that the pain beneath the joke might still be real. Tonto Dikeh has never shied away from speaking her truth. Whether addressing matters of the heart, motherhood, or social justice, she remains one of the most expressive voices in the Nigerian entertainment space. Fans have flooded her comment sections with words of encouragement and empathy, many relating to the feeling of loving deeply, perhaps too deeply. Spotify Royalty Payout To Nigerian, South African Artists Boom In 2024
Spotify’s royalty payouts to artists from Nigeria and South Africa — its two largest markets in Africa — rose to approximately $59 million in 2024. Globally, the audio streaming giant disbursed about $10 billion in royalties as global appetite for African music surged. Although Africa makes up a small share of Spotify’s total catalogue, interest in artists from the continent has soared, driven by international stars like Nigeria’s Burna Boy and South Africa’s Tyla. Nigerian artists earned over 58 billion naira (around $38 million) in royalties last year, more than twice the amount received in 2023. South African artists earned 400 million rand (about $21 million), reflecting a 54% year-on-year increase. A significant portion of this income came from outside Africa. Nigerian music exports have grown by 49% over the past three years, while South African exports have jumped by 104%. Spotify also reported that 250 million user-generated playlists now include at least one Nigerian artist, and 220 million feature a South African act. “What we’re seeing is an excellent evolution around more and more mid-tier or up-and-coming artists making a living,” said Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy, Spotify’s managing director for Sub-Saharan Africa. The number of Nigerian artists earning at least N10 million annually has doubled compared to last year and tripled since 2022. In South Africa, the number of artists earning between 100,000 and 500,000 rand has also doubled over the past three years.

Jemima Osunde says “Actors Are Being Forced to Become Content Creators”
Nollywood actress Jemima Osunde has voiced her frustration over the growing pressure on actors to build and maintain a strong social media presence, suggesting that their chances of landing film roles are now increasingly tied to their online engagement. Speaking on the Running Lines Podcast, Osunde lamented the shift in the industry, where actors are expected to actively create and promote content online as part of their job. "Now they're forcing actors to be social media content creators. It’s like, ‘You see that dance? You must dance on the internet.’ Why?" she questioned. She expressed concern that actors without a significant social media following are at risk of being overlooked for roles, as producers prioritize those who can help market the film. "That shouldn't be my job! How often do you see Keanu Reeves when he’s not acting? Why is it different for us?" she added. Her remarks have sparked a debate online, with opinions divided. While some agree that actors shouldn’t be pressured into content creation, others argue that social media is now an essential tool for career growth and film promotion. Some reactions to her message are: ???? "They are forcing themselves. Nobody is making them do it. They can simply say no." ???? "Business owners started this. The competition became so intense that traditional ads weren’t enough anymore." ???? "Not just actors, even business owners are affected. Why must I dance to reach my target audience?" ???? "Unfortunately, this is how the market works now. If you’re in a film, you have to help sell it. It also helps in marketing yourself as an actor." ???? "Times have changed. If you don’t evolve, you’ll be left behind." While the debate continues, one thing is clear, social media has reshaped the entertainment industry, and actors are now facing new expectations beyond just their performances on screen.

According to Nigerian comedian and content creator, Ijoba Lande, who shared his experience working with Nollywood star Funke Akindele, claimed he was paid only ₦90,000 after spending an entire month on her production set. In a recently surfaced video, Lande recalled how he eagerly joined Akindele’s team at Amen Estate, believing the opportunity would boost his career. However, he admitted that he never discussed his payment beforehand, assuming the exposure and future collaborations would be worth it. Upon arriving on set, he was given a document by a team member named Wendy, outlining his compensation. “I won’t lie, I was so excited to work with Aunty Funke that I didn’t even ask about money. I didn’t want to come off as difficult or ruin my chances of working with her,” he said. To his surprise, the contract stated his monthly salary was ₦90,000. Despite his initial shock, he signed the agreement, hoping there would be room for negotiation later. However, at the end of the month, he received exactly what was written no bonus, no reconsideration. “For a whole month at Amen Estate, Funke Akindele didn’t pay me ₦150,000. I swear by Almighty God,” he stressed. Reflecting on the experience, Lande advised aspiring entertainers to know their worth and never undervalue themselves in pursuit of opportunities, no matter how big the name attached to them.

Bobrisky Claims Arrest by Nigerian Immigration Was an April Fool’s Prank
Controversial Nigerian cross-dresser, Idris Okunneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, caused a stir on social media after claiming that he had been arrested by officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service. The social media personality made the allegation in an Instagram post on Tuesday, sparking widespread reactions and concern among his followers. Bobrisky, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and outspoken nature, had previously announced his decision to leave Nigeria to focus on his personal well-being. Kate Henshaw Criticizes Poor Planning Over Lagos Bridge Closure
Renowned Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw has voiced her frustration over the recent closure of the Independence Bridge in Victoria Island, Lagos, which led to severe traffic congestion on April 2, 2025. The sudden shutdown of the bridge left commuters stranded in gridlock for hours, triggering widespread outrage among Lagos residents. Following intense criticism from the public, the Minister of Works ordered the reopening of the bridge in an attempt to alleviate the traffic crisis. However, Henshaw took to social media platform X to express her displeasure, criticizing the authorities for failing to plan the repairs properly and insisting that such work should have been carried out at night to minimize disruptions. "In truly civilized nations, such work is done under the gentle cover of night when the city sleeps, and disruption is minimal. It’s a matter of respect, empathy, and COMMON SENSE. Now you want to open an already excavated bridge for damage control! Mscheeew," Henshaw wrote. Her remarks struck a chord with many Nigerians, who took to the comments section to share similar frustrations. One user pointed out that this was not an isolated incident, referencing the previous closure of the Third Mainland Bridge and arguing that major road repairs should always be scheduled for nighttime to reduce inconvenience. "Exactly my point yesterday while using that route via Leventis. I told those with me that this should be done at night. You don’t just decide to subject people to untold stress when a better alternative exists," a commenter lamented. Another user shared an experience from Germany, where roadwork is typically conducted at 2 a.m. to prevent disruptions. They highlighted that such strategic planning benefits both the public and the government, which could otherwise face lawsuits for failing to meet project deadlines. However, some commenters raised concerns about the quality of work if conducted overnight. "There are two sides to a coin. While I’m not excusing the consequences of this, how are we sure the engineers will deliver quality work if they operate at night? Again, our leaders need to do better. It still boils down to corruption," one individual remarked. A frustrated commuter who endured the standstill traffic also expressed disappointment in Nigeria’s governance. "I had a long discussion with my friend on our way home, stuck in that six-hour-long traffic jam last night. From snakes swallowing JAMB money to the unnecessary redesign of the naira notes to announcing election results in the dead of night our politicians have no regard for us." The frequent closure of major roads in Lagos continues to be a significant issue, with authorities often criticized for poor planning and a lack of consideration for the public. Henshaw’s outcry, along with the overwhelming reactions from Nigerians, underscores the urgent need for better governance and infrastructure management.
