Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has refuted rumors suggesting a brewing crisis within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which allegedly led to the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as Chairman of the party.

Following a closed-door meeting with APC governors, Uzodinma, who also serves as Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, asserted that the party remains united. He emphasized that all stakeholders are collaborating for the betterment of the APC and the nation as a whole.

Governor Uzodimma acknowledged the voluntary resignations of the National Chairman and National Secretary, praising their dedication to the party and expressing support for their decisions. He revealed that the party’s leadership has already accepted their resignations and appointed acting replacements for both positions.

Regarding the recent removal of fuel subsidy and its impact on the country’s finances, Uzodimma reassured that efforts were underway to utilize the funds generated from the Federation Account in a manner that benefits the citizens, labor, and the economy. He also highlighted steps being taken to address the current hardships caused by the increase in food and petroleum product prices and the overall cost of living. Collaboration between subnational and federal governments is being pursued to find solutions.

Responding to questions about the constitutionality of caretaker and acting committees, Uzodimma firmly stated that there is no crisis within the party. He expressed confidence in the APC’s electoral success, having won the previous election by a significant margin. The party’s constitution outlines a succession plan in the absence of a substantive National Chairman, with the Deputy National Chairman from the same zone taking over, and the same applies to the Deputy National Secretary. Uzodimma assured that the party’s succession plan is well-established and functioning effectively.

The meeting concluded with reassurances of party unity and a shared determination to continue working for the progress and success of the APC.
