Wrestling Icon Hulk Hogan Dies At 71
Professional wrestling legend Hulk Hogan has passed away at the age of 71, according to TMZ Sports.
Emergency responders were dispatched to Hogan’s Clearwater, Florida home early Thursday morning following reports of a “cardiac arrest.” Witnesses said multiple police and emergency vehicles arrived at the scene, and Hogan was seen being taken away on a stretcher and placed into an ambulance.
Just weeks prior, Hogan’s wife, Sky, had publicly denied rumors that the WWE icon was in a coma, assuring fans that his heart was "strong" and that he was recovering well from recent medical procedures.
Born Terry Bollea, Hogan played a pivotal role in transforming professional wrestling from a niche sport into a global entertainment phenomenon. With his trademark charisma, larger-than-life persona, and broad appeal, he became the face of WWE during the 1980s, attracting millions of fans across generations.
In 1996, Hogan famously shifted from hero to villain, adopting the name “Hollywood Hogan” and co-founding the iconic New World Order (NWO) faction. The dramatic turn revitalized his career and contributed to a wrestling boom during that era.
He was first inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, but was removed in 2015 following the release of a secretly recorded tape in which he made racist comments. Hogan later sued the now-defunct media outlet Gawker over the video and won a high-profile lawsuit. WWE reinstated him in 2020, inducting him again — this time as part of the NWO.
Outside the ring, Hogan found success in Hollywood, beginning with his role as Thunderlips in *Rocky III* (1982). He went on to star in films like *No Holds Barred*, *Suburban Commando*, and *Mr. Nanny*. He also became a reality TV fixture in the 2000s through *Hogan Knows Best*, a VH1 show chronicling the life of his family — wife Linda and their children, Nick and Brooke.
Hulk Hogan leaves behind a powerful legacy as both a trailblazing wrestling superstar and enduring pop culture icon.
