D’Tigress Defeat Cameroon To Reach Sixth Afrobasket Semis
Six-time champions, Nigeria’s D’Tigresses, have secured a spot in the semifinals of the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket tournament after a commanding 83–47 victory over Cameroon, keeping their title defense on track. The win stretches Nigeria’s unbeaten run in African competitions to 27 games since 2015 and brings them within reach of an unprecedented fifth consecutive title. Only Senegal has previously matched their current tally of four straight championships. Cameroon made an early statement with a 4-0 lead, courtesy of Jessica Thomas and Maria Ewodo, but that momentum was quickly halted. Defending MVP Amy Okonkwo put Nigeria on the board with a free throw, followed by an Elizabeth Balogun jump shot that gave Rena Wakama’s side a 5-4 edge. The D’Tigresses then closed the first quarter on an 8-0 run, ending it 21-9. Although Cameroon rallied in the second quarter to match Nigeria with 20 points, they still trailed 41-29 at halftime due to their early slump. The third quarter proved decisive, as Nigeria unleashed a dominant 25-2 run that left Cameroon reeling. Despite outscoring Nigeria 16-14 in the final quarter, the deficit was insurmountable for the 2021 bronze medalists. Okonkwo led with 18 points in just under 19 minutes, but the victory was a collective effort. All but one player who logged over 10 minutes contributed at least one basket, with four players hitting double figures. As D’Tigresses continue to redefine women’s basketball on the continent, Cameroon now shifts focus to the fifth-place playoff — a potential improvement on their sixth-place finish in 2023.

Wrestling Icon Hulk Hogan Dies At 71
Professional wrestling legend Hulk Hogan has passed away at the age of 71, according to TMZ Sports. Emergency responders were dispatched to Hogan’s Clearwater, Florida home early Thursday morning following reports of a “cardiac arrest.” Witnesses said multiple police and emergency vehicles arrived at the scene, and Hogan was seen being taken away on a stretcher and placed into an ambulance. Just weeks prior, Hogan’s wife, Sky, had publicly denied rumors that the WWE icon was in a coma, assuring fans that his heart was "strong" and that he was recovering well from recent medical procedures. Born Terry Bollea, Hogan played a pivotal role in transforming professional wrestling from a niche sport into a global entertainment phenomenon. With his trademark charisma, larger-than-life persona, and broad appeal, he became the face of WWE during the 1980s, attracting millions of fans across generations. In 1996, Hogan famously shifted from hero to villain, adopting the name “Hollywood Hogan” and co-founding the iconic New World Order (NWO) faction. The dramatic turn revitalized his career and contributed to a wrestling boom during that era. He was first inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, but was removed in 2015 following the release of a secretly recorded tape in which he made racist comments. Hogan later sued the now-defunct media outlet Gawker over the video and won a high-profile lawsuit. WWE reinstated him in 2020, inducting him again — this time as part of the NWO. Outside the ring, Hogan found success in Hollywood, beginning with his role as Thunderlips in *Rocky III* (1982). He went on to star in films like *No Holds Barred*, *Suburban Commando*, and *Mr. Nanny*. He also became a reality TV fixture in the 2000s through *Hogan Knows Best*, a VH1 show chronicling the life of his family — wife Linda and their children, Nick and Brooke. Hulk Hogan leaves behind a powerful legacy as both a trailblazing wrestling superstar and enduring pop culture icon.

Arsenal Sign Denmark’s Christian Norgaard From Brentford
Arsenal have announced the signing of Denmark international Christian Norgaard from Brentford ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season. The club confirmed the move in a statement published on its website on Thursday. Norgaard, 31, captained Brentford during the 2023/24 campaign and leaves the Bees after making 196 appearances in all competitions, including 122 in the Premier League. Over his time in West London, he scored 13 goals and provided 18 assists. Norgaard began his professional career in Denmark with Lyngby, debuting for the senior team at just 17. At 18, he moved to Germany to join Hamburg before returning to Denmark in 2013 to sign for Brondby. During five seasons there, he played 147 matches, scored 12 goals, and made nine assists. Notably, he was named Brondby’s Player of the Year in 2017 and helped them win the Danish Cup in the 2017/18 season. In 2018, the midfielder signed for Serie A side Fiorentina, spending one season in Italy before moving to Brentford in May 2019. At Brentford, he played a vital role in their promotion to the Premier League after a 74-year absence and was named captain ahead of the 2023/24 season — a year that proved to be his most prolific, with six goals from a defensive midfield position. On the international stage, Norgaard has earned 35 caps for Denmark since making his senior debut in a goalless draw against England in September 2020.
