Delineation: Kusimi, Tekedor, Eweregbene Communities Raise Alarm Over INEC Delisting In Warri South West, Urges Swift Correction
A coalition of communities, Kusimi, Eweregbene, and Tekedor, have jointly raised the alarm over what they describe as a blatant act of disenfranchisement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a strongly worded press briefing held today, community leaders decried their removal from INEC’s recent delineation exercise in Warri South West Local Government Area. According to the leaders, their communities, long recognised by judicial rulings, census records, and previous INEC documents, have always been part of Ward 1 in Warri South West, particularly Units 22 and 27. They stressed that they have consistently contributed to the electoral and socio-political fabric of Delta State and Nigeria at large. The group highlighted that they had previously agitated for the creation of distinct wards for each community due to their significant population and voting power. Instead, they were stunned to find themselves omitted entirely from the updated delineation list. Read the full statement below: PRESS RELEASE Date: MONDAY 12TH MAY 2025 JOINT PRESS BRIEFING BY KUSIMI COMMUNITY, EWEREGBENE COMMUNITY, AND TEKEDOR KUSIMI COMMUNITY ON THE INJUSTICE OF THE EXCLUSION/REMOVAL OF OUR COMMUNITIES FROM INEC’S RECENT DELINEATION EXERCISE IN WARRI SOUTH WEST LGA Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, We, the leaders and people of Kusimi Community, Eweregbene Community, and Tekedor Kusimi Community, we find it imperative to come together in unity and peace to assert our civic rights and correct a grave injustice recently meted out to us by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Our communities are not mere settlements. We are constitutionally recognized entities with distinct histories, cultures, and legal status. Our existence is affirmed by judicial decisions, the National Population Census, and political and traditional institutions, including prior acknowledgments by INEC itself. We have always participated actively in the democratic process and contributed to the socio-political development of Delta State and Nigeria at large. Historically, our communities have been part of Ward 1 in Warri South West Local Government Area, represented specifically in Units 22 and 27. This has been the framework through which we exercise our democratic rights. We are, therefore, alarmed and disappointed by our exclusion from the list of communities in INEC’s recent delineation exercise in the Warri Federal Constituency. This omission is particularly disheartening given that our communities had earlier agitated for the creation of separate wards, based on our significant population and voting strength, which qualifies each community for such representation. To now see our names omitted and replaced with fictitious or non-existent ones is an affront to justice, democratic integrity, and our fundamental rights as citizens. We, therefore, make the following demands: 1. INEC must immediately reinstate the names of Kusimi, Eweregbene, and Tekedor Kusimi Communities into the official list of communities in Warri South West LGA. 2. INEC must recognize and create separate electoral wards for each of these communities, in line with their population and voting capacity. 3. The relevant authorities must investigate this act of exclusion and treat it as a violation of our constitutional and democratic rights. 4. The media, civil society, and all justice-loving Nigerians must stand with us in ensuring that fairness, transparency, and equity is restored. Let it be known: we will not be silent when our identity, our civic rights, and our future are disregarded. As the saying goes, “We are too important to be ignored by human beings, because no human can take the place of God.” We demand immediate corrective action, inclusion, and public clarification by INEC. We also call on: Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, Chairman of Warri South West Local Government Area, Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, To urgently intervene and address this injustice. Our communities must not be silenced or excluded from the democratic process to which we are rightfully entitled. Long live Kusimi Community! Long live Eweregbene Community! Long live Tekedor Kusimi Community! Long live Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom! Long live Warri South West LGA! Long live Delta State! And long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria! Thank you. Signed: Mr. Newman Kusimi Opinion Leader, Kusimi Community Mr. Joseph Dedetolu Opinion Leader, Eweregbene Community Amb. Dcn. Clement Tekedor Opinion Leader, Tekedor Kusimi Community

2025 UTME: We’re Scrutinising Complaints To Identify, Rectify Technical Issues~ JAMB
In response to the ongoing complaints surrounding the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it is thoroughly investigating the issues to identify and resolve any potential technical glitches. Acknowledging what it described as “a significant volume of unusual complaints” following the release of the 2025 UTME results last Friday, JAMB stated that it has enlisted the support of various experts—including members of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners (who are heads of tertiary institutions), the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa, measurement specialists, and vice chancellors from several universities—to aid in the review process. In a press statement issued on Monday, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, voiced concern over the atypical complaints emerging from certain states across the country. The terse release reads in part:” “In response, the Board is fast-forwarding its annual system review—a comprehensive post-mortem of the examination process that is conducted each year months after the exercise. “The Board’s annual review encompasses three key stages: registration, examination, and result release. “During the examination phase, JAMB ensures that every candidate is afforded the opportunity to sit for the test. Should any technical issues arise, the Board reschedules the examination for affected candidates without hesitation. “We are particularly concerned about the unusual complaints originating from a few states within the Federation. We are currently scrutinising these complaints in detail to identify and rectify any potential technical issues. “To assist in this process, we have engaged a number of experts, including members from the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners, who are heads of tertiary institutions; the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa; measurement experts; and vice chancellors from various institutions. “If it is determined that there were indeed glitches, we will implement appropriate remedial measures promptly, as we do in the case of the examinations themselves.”

2027: I’m Not Going Back To Villa, Tinubu ‘Wonderful’ President~ Patience Jonathan
Former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan has stated that she has no plans to return to Aso Rock, instead expressing her full support for First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking Saturday night in Abuja after receiving the 2025 Women Icon Leader of the Year award from Accolade Dynamics Limited, Jonathan reiterated her commitment to rotational leadership, emphasizing that the “turn-by-turn” system is essential for preserving national unity. “I believe in one president. I believe in turn-by-turn. When it’s your turn, I will support you. When it’s not your turn, step back—so that the country can move forward,” she said. She addressed the crowd while acknowledging the presence of Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of President Bola Tinubu and the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria. “I was supposed to call her first, but I saved her for last: the daughter of our wonderful President, the President of Nigeria, the one and only we believe in — President Bola Tinubu. Iyaloja, thank you for standing with women because these are your women. Carry them along; they are with you. “All the way, we are with you. No shaking. We will follow. Direct us, and we will follow. Because there is only one president at a time. We don’t have two presidents. I am outspoken — if I don’t like something, I will say it. But if I like something, I die for it.” Reflecting on her longstanding bond with Senator Remi Tinubu, Jonathan revealed that their relationship dates back to their days as wives of state governors and deputies, long before either entered Aso Rock. “I didn’t just know her (Senator Oluremi Tinubu) just because she’s the First Lady, no. We worked together. We worked as a group. “We are groups. We worked when I was a deputy governor’s wife. We worked when I was a governor’s wife. I know her. I talked with Oluremi. Even when my husband was the vice president, Oluremi stood with her husband and supported us during our first election. They supported us. So, for me, I have a conscience. I cannot abandon my friend, whether you like it or not.” She reiterated her commitment to standing by the First Lady and dismissed any speculation about a political comeback. “I stand by my friend. My friend is great. I told her I would campaign with her. I’m not denying her. I’m not running. I’m not going back to the villa. If you call me, I will not go. “I say it every day. Don’t you like how young I look? People say, ‘Mama, you are young, you are young!’ it is because I have rest of mind, yes. I don’t want to go there—let my friend be there. Let me also ‘wahala’ her the way she used to ‘wahala’ me when I was there! Let me also tease her. And until she comes out, she will be young. But for now, she won’t be young.” The former First Lady also used the occasion to advocate for the 35 per cent affirmative action for women in governance, expressing disappointment over the National Assembly’s repeated rejection of gender equality bills. “During Obasanjo’s time, we worked for it, and the Executive approved 35 per cent. My husband also maintained it. But when it comes to elective positions, the men dominate and shut us out. May God touch their hearts to understand that we are their mothers, sisters, and friends. We are not trying to take power from them—we are trying to support them.” While accepting her award, Jonathan emphasised that the recognition symbolizes the collective effort of many who have championed the welfare of women. “I am deeply humbled to receive this prestigious Women Icon Leader of the Year 2025 award. I accept this honour not just as a personal recognition, but as a testament to the tireless efforts of countless women and men who have worked alongside me to promote good health and economic development for women in Nigeria and beyond.”

Only The Blind Will Accuse Tinubu Of Non~Performance~ Wike
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Saturday stated that Abuja’s infrastructure has undergone a major transformation since May 29, 2023. He commended President Bola Tinubu for delivering what he described as "first-class infrastructure" to the capital. During an inspection of various ongoing projects, Wike remarked that only the visually impaired could claim the president has underperformed in the FCT. He also revealed that several projects are set for commissioning and inauguration as part of activities marking the president’s second anniversary, noting the process would span at least two weeks. He said, “Mr President has given first-class infrastructure to Abuja. All of you can attest to the fact that, indeed, Abuja has really changed. So, we are happy for it. I want to thank God Almighty for providing the right leadership to Mr President to provide the dividends of democracy to the residents of Abuja. I don’t see why anybody would say that Mr President has not done well, except you are just blind. Except, you don’t want to admit something that you know that is good. We are happy that we have fulfilled the promises that we have made. “I think by next week, we will be able to provide all the projects that will be inaugurated during Mr President’s second anniversary but this Gishiri interchange is one of them, the OSEX to Wassa Junction is also one of them, the International Conference Centre is another one. The N5 is also another one. We have so many roads, both in the satellite towns and in the city. Even the Abuja Greater Water will also be inaugurated. So, we have a lot of projects. It will take us about two weeks to inaugurate most of our projects. “What makes us happy is when people are happy, because at the end of the day, we are working for the people. I have said it before, leadership is a major issue. When you have the right leadership, people will benefit from it,” he stated.

Why We Lead In Oil Production~ Delta Govt
The Delta State Government says its consistent investment in peace and development across oil-producing communities has helped boost national revenue and secure the state's top position in oil production. State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, made this known during an interview on Channels TV Politics Today on Friday night. Responding to comments by Delta APC stalwart Collins Eselemo, Aniagwu stressed that Delta’s emergence as Nigeria’s leading oil-producing state was made possible by deliberate efforts to maintain peace and drive development in key oil-producing areas. According to Aniagwu, “Governor Oborevwori has brought significant development to our state”. "Former Governor Okowa did not commission the Ogulaha-Okonti-Odimodi Road, as claimed. However, Okowa did construct and inaugurate the 20.29km Obotobo I, Obotobo II, Sokebulou, and Yokiri roads in Ogulagha, Burutu Local Government Area. "Eselemo fails to understand that the people living in the creeks have homes there. They own vehicles and need accessible roads. One of the key reasons we have not experienced significant pipeline vandalism in Delta is because we extended development to the creeks, where most of the oil is extracted. "Previously, they would tell the people that development was only on paper, confined to pipeline areas. But instead of keeping development in the pipeline, the Delta State Government starting with the Okowa administration and now deepened by Governor Oborevwori took development directly to the people. "Eselemo questions the economic importance of developing the creeks, but that is precisely why Delta is a leading oil-producing state because our brothers and sisters in the creeks have been empowered and included. "He is asking why we develop those areas. It’s a shameful question. Imagine how shallow his reasoning is, especially coming from someone who is himself from the creeks.” The Commissioner also mentioned that Governor Oborevwori’s leadership facilitated the defection of former PDP members in the state to the APC in order to drive further development. “We joined the APC with the intention of broadening the spectrum of development in Delta. We have extended a hand of partnership to our brothers and sisters we met in the APC. Naturally, not everyone will be on the same page from day one, but with time, full integration will happen. "Talking about developments in Eselemo’s local government area, we have completed all road projects in Burutu Town. The Ayakoromo Bridge is under construction, and work is ongoing on the Ogulaha-Okonti-Odimodi Road. "We are also building the 47-kilometer Ohoror-Bomadi road, and Eselemo is fully aware of this. If he wants to talk about development, I am more than willing to engage him.” Responding to Eselemo’s claim that the Julius Berger bridges in Effurun and Warri are within a 400-meter stretch, Aniagwu dismissed the allegation as false and misleading. “He claimed that the bridges being constructed in Effurun and Warri are only 400 meters apart. That’s not true. One of the bridges alone exceeds 400 meters in length and we are building three. “Let him tell you whether the Enerhen Junction is just 400 meters from the DSC Roundabout. Let him say if PTI Junction is just 400 meters from Enerhen Junction, or from the DSC Roundabout. Clearly, he is not telling the truth. “And it’s not just bridges we are building, we are also expanding the corridor. Everyone who travels through that corridor has commended Governor Oborevwori for his commitment to infrastructure. "So I want to know what exactly my brother Collins is unhappy about. Is it our move to the APC or the state’s infrastructural progress? That needs to be clarified. “Collins used to be more coherent in his arguments than what I witnessed tonight. Responding to the issues he raised is difficult because even he doesn’t seem to know what exactly his problem is with our move to the APC." On allegations that the state owes over N400 billion, Aniagwu debunked the claim, describing it as false and completely detached from reality. “No one is owing N400 billion. Since Governor Oborevwori assumed office, he has not borrowed a single dime. "In fact, he has repaid over N280 billion in loans and contractual obligations, many of which were inherited from the previous administration and tied to bridging finance. "So I really don’t understand where Eselemo stands. He is moving from one argument to another without any consistency or clarity. "I thought he wanted to discuss our defection to the APC. But instead, he started attacking even the APC’s spokesperson, which left me puzzled about what interests or tendencies he represents. “Perhaps he thought he would come here, spread falsehoods, paint distorted pictures, and go unchecked. But that won’t happen. “Beyond that, I want to emphasize that we are making tangible progress in Delta and we are moving forward. "You heard the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. He acknowledged that everyone has come together. The APC leaders we met have all welcomed the move. “So I really need to understand the angle my brother Collins Eselemo is coming from. It’s obvious he is disorganized in his arguments tonight, and that is quite unfortunate. “I hope, after this interview, he reflects on his position. Right now, he is jumping from one point to another without addressing the very issues he raised.”

Court Gives EFCC 3 Days To Wrap Up 10~Year~Old Corruption Charges Against Ex NSA Dasuki
Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) three consecutive days, July 7, 8, and 9 to wrap up its decade-old corruption trial against former National Security Adviser, Mohammed Sambo Dasuki. The decision followed the restart of the trial in Justice Lifu’s court, where EFCC counsel Oladipupo Okpeseyi and Dasuki’s lawyer, A. A. Usman, clashed over the admissibility of a subpoena issued on May 24, 2018. The subpoena directed the Department of State Services (DSS) to produce certain items allegedly recovered from Dasuki’s properties. Usman challenged the validity of the subpoena, arguing that the DSS is not legally recognised as an entity under Nigerian law. In response, Okpeseyi maintained that the DSS is a statutory body, asserting that there is no ambiguity about its legal status. “The document was duly served on Department of State Security. The Department has no confusion as to its identity. “The witness did not exhibit any confusion as to his invitation by the Court. The objection as to form does not defeat the end of Justice. We humbly pray the Court not to sustain the objection in the interest of substantial justice.” In the end, Justice Lifu admitted the subpoena as an exhibit and reserved his ruling to be delivered along with the main charge. “I have carefully and painstakingly listened to learned counsel on the admissibility of the document sought to be tendered by the prosecution. “I have also perused the document in relation to the name on the said subpoena. Admissibility of documentary evidence is governed by the law of evidence, and it is determined by relevancy. “Being a criminal case which is about 10 years old in the docket of this court, coupled with the fact that ACJA 2015 envisages speedy dispensation of criminal justice, this document shall be admitted and a ruling shall be incorporated into the final judgement of this court,” said Justice Lifu. The judge drew the attention of the parties to the fact that the case had dragged and suffered delay for ten years, having been filed in 2015.
