US Tariffs To Hit All Countries, Says Trump
President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that the tariffs he intends to implement in the coming days will apply to all nations, not just those with the largest trade imbalances with the United States. He has vowed to introduce reciprocal levies on April 2, calling it a "Liberation Day," as part of his administration's efforts to counter what it considers unfair trade practices. “You’d start with all countries, so let’s see what happens,” Trump told reporters onboard Air Force One, dashing hopes he might scale back some of the threatened levies or that they would target a select group with persistent trade imbalances. “I haven’t heard a rumour about 15 countries, 10 or 15,” he said when asked which nations would be affected. “Essentially all of the countries that we’re talking about. We’ve been talking about all countries, not a cutoff,” he said, without giving details. Trump’s impending tariff measures were initially expected to focus on the 15 percent of trade partners with persistent imbalances with the United States, a group Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent referred to as the “Dirty 15.” However, despite expanding the scope, the president maintained that his tariffs would be more “generous” than those imposed on the United States. “The tariffs will be far more generous than those countries were to us, meaning they will be kinder than those countries were to the United States of America over the decades. “They ripped us off like no country has ever been ripped off in history, and we’re going to be much nicer than they were to us. But it’s substantial money for the country nevertheless,” he said. Trump has already slapped tariffs on steel and aluminum imports and additional levies on imports from China. Tariffs on imported autos are also due to take effect on April 3. Trump’s top trade aide Peter Navarro said the tax on auto imports could raise $100 billion a year. “And in addition, the other tariffs are going to raise about $600 billion a year, about $6 trillion over a 10-year period,” Navarro told Fox News Sunday.

I Nearly Quit 2023 Presidential Race~ Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu revealed on Saturday night that he nearly withdrew from the 2023 presidential race due to unfavorable odds. Speaking at a special Iftar held in his honor at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu recounted how former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari convinced him to stay in the race, assuring him of strong support from the North West. A statement released early Sunday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga disclosed that Tinubu considered stepping down after a conversation with a close relative during the campaign. The President expressed gratitude to attendees for their presence, prayers, and contributions to national development. The statement party read: “President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians for their outpouring of goodwill and prayers as he marked his 73rd birthday. “At a special Iftar held in his honour at the Presidential Villa on Saturday night, President Tinubu thanked guests for their presence, prayers, and contributions to the nation’s development. “Acknowledging the challenges he faced on his path to the presidency, President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to advancing Nigeria’s progress. “The gathering included the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and his wife, Nana Shettima, members of the Federal Executive Council, principal officers of the National Assembly, current and former governors, diplomats, business leaders, religious figures, and some of the President’s childhood friends. “Dr. Abdulkadir Salman Sholagberu, Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja, led special prayers seeking divine guidance and continued progress for the President and the nation. “Reflecting on his political journey, President Tinubu recounted a moment of doubt during the 2023 election campaign when he contemplated withdrawing from the race after an encounter with a close relative. “Those close to me know that the odds were against me. During the campaigns, one of them came to my living room around 3:30 a.m. and said he needed just N50,000 to buy foodstuff for our uncle. “He told me, ‘The currency is gone because of you. People are jumping over bank counters because there is no cash. Our uncle, a wealthy man, doesn’t even have N10,000 in cash. What are you running for?'” “I told him, ‘I am running for President, not for you and our uncle.’ I gave him the N50,000. As he walked out, he turned to me and said, ‘I don’t think you will make it.’ I replied, ‘I will make it.'” “The President disclosed that his uncle later called to confirm receiving the money but admitted that he had only given the messenger N10,000, keeping the rest. “I was amazed. At that moment, I almost dropped the idea of running for President. But thanks to Aminu Masari and all of you who encouraged me. When I came to Abuja, Masari told me, ‘I am the Chairman of the North West Group; don’t look back’,” he said.

PDP Land Revocation Not Political, Affects INEC, CBN~ Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the revocation of its land title was a deliberate move to suppress opposition. Speaking during a visit by officials of the Body of Benchers, led by Chairman Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, in Abuja on Friday, Wike, a life bencher, expressed disappointment over PDP’s allegation that he had been directed to revoke its land title in Central Area, Abuja, for political reasons. He noted that executive actions in the country were often misconstrued along political, religious, and ethnic lines. According to him, the revocation of land titles for allottees who failed to pay ground rent for over a decade was being misinterpreted as a political decision. Wike revealed that despite being in power for years, the PDP had failed to pay the N7.6 million ground rent for its Central Area land, where it was constructing its National Secretariat. He pointed out that the party had generated between N13 billion and N20 billion from the sale of nomination forms but still neglected the required payment. Additionally, Wike explained that Wadata Plaza, where the PDP’s National Secretariat is located, was not officially registered as party property but under a senator residing in Abuja. He noted that the registered owner had defaulted on ground rent payments for 28 years, yet the PDP continued to accuse the minister of targeting its secretariat. “Maybe they had a deal with the man and did not complete the deed of assignment and were shouting oh, they sent Wike to revoke the land as a ploy to kill opposition. “What kind of mentality is that?” Wike asked. Wike stressed that the land revocation was not targeted at the PDP alone, noting that other institutions, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as well as individuals, had also lost their land titles for the same reason. He revealed that the CBN had appealed for a reversal of its revoked title but was told to first settle the outstanding ground rent before any reconsideration. Wike further urged the Body of Benchers to ensure timely payment of their ground rent, warning that no defaulting allottee would be exempted. According to the Waffi TV, Wike had approved the revocation of 4,794 land titles on March 17, 2025, due to non-payment of ground rent for over a decade, affecting individuals, corporate entities, and government agencies.
