FG To Train 100,000 Youths Annually In Forex Trading
The Federal Government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Investonaire Academy to train 100,000 young Nigerians annually in foreign exchange trading. The initiative is part of broader efforts to combat unemployment and promote financial inclusion. According to a statement released on Tuesday by Omolara Esan, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, the MoU was formalized on Monday in Abuja. Under the agreement, Nigerian youths will receive hands-on training in forex trading, risk management, and financial literacy to enable their active participation in the global financial market. At the signing ceremony, Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande described the partnership as a strategic move to equip young people with digital and entrepreneurial skills that will deliver long-term benefits to individuals and the national economy. “This partnership reflects our strategic vision for sustainable youth development. “Beyond trading, we’re teaching our youths to think critically, embrace digital tools, and seize global opportunities to build wealth and contribute meaningfully to the Nigerian economy,” Olawande said. According to the statement, the minister emphasised that in a time of economic uncertainty, initiatives like this provide a credible route to financial independence and entrepreneurial resilience. “This MoU is not just a formality. It is a commitment to action. We will ensure transparent, measurable outcomes that genuinely impact the lives of young Nigerians,” he added. On his part, the International Programme Director of Investonaire Academy, Dr. Enefola Odiba, expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting that it targets not just skill acquisition but also economic empowerment. “Youths are the backbone of any nation. When empowered, they become catalysts for innovation and growth. This initiative is designed to bridge the socio-economic divide and unlock the immense potential of our young people,” he said. Odiba also emphasised that the program aligned with the Federal Government’s broader push for digital inclusion, economic diversification, and innovative capacity-building. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that this initiative is rolled out with transparency, excellence, and tangible results, positioning Nigeria’s youths as active players in the global economy.

NRC Assures Public Of Warri~Itakpe Rail Safety, Debunks Viral Video
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has assured the public that rail transport along the Warri-Itakpe corridor remains safe and fully operational. This assurance was given by the Acting Deputy Director of Public Relations, Mr. Callistus Unyimadu, in a statement issued on Monday in Lagos. “The attention of the NRC has been drawn to a widely circulated social media message warning the public to avoid train travel, particularly along Warri-Itakpe rail corridor. “The message, accompanied by a short video showing removed rail clips, falsely claims that rail transport is currently unsafe and urges passengers to cancel travel plans. “We wish to categorically state that this information is misleading and unfounded,” he said. Unyimadu noted that the identified incident, which involved the temporary removal of some rail clips at a specific location on the corridor, was promptly detected during routine inspection and was immediately rectified by the NRC maintenance team. “All necessary safety and operational protocols were strictly followed to ensure that no threat was posed to passengers or the integrity of the train operations. “Indeed, the Warri-Itakpe train (WITS) has successfully passed through the affected section without any incident, further confirming the safety of the route,” he said. He pointed out that the NRC remained committed to the highest standards of safety and security in all its operations. He added that NRC tracks and rolling stock are under constant surveillance and maintenance and NRC personnel are fully equipped to address any issues that may arise in real time. “We, therefore, urge the public to disregard the viral message and continue to use our train services with full confidence. “Any attempt to spread fear or discourage the use of rail transport undermines the progress being made in the sector and should be condemned. “Train services on the Warri-Itakpe corridor and all other NRC corridors remain safe, reliable and fully operational. “For official updates and travel advisory, we encourage passengers to rely only on verified NRC communication channels,” he said.

FG’s Reforms To Crash Food Prices~ Minister
The Federal Government has stated that its agricultural reforms are aimed at ensuring all Nigerians have access to affordable and readily available food. This was revealed by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, while addressing journalists in Maiduguri. Kyari emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts in the agricultural sector to combat food insecurity and boost the national economy. He said the ministry had adopted a multi-pronged strategy to confront challenges such as insecurity, flooding, and import dependency, particularly in critical areas like wheat and rice production. “As part of efforts to reduce the over six million tonnes of wheat currently imported annually, we have launched a national wheat farming programme,” Kyari said. He noted that Cross River has become the first southern state to join the wheat production drive, marking a significant milestone in diversifying the crop’s geographic spread. Kyari also said fertiliser distribution under the programme had boosted rice production by 58,000 tonnes, enabling the federal government to subsidise rice supply to states affected by flooding. “In addition to wheat, the ministry has championed a successful rice programme, leading to positive harvests nationwide,” he said. The minister stressed the need to protect both consumers and producers, noting that “80 per cent of our food is produced by local farmers. “Our immediate priority is to address affordability and ensure every Nigerian has access to safe and nutritious food,” Kyari said.

FG Set To Roll Out New Rail Lines Nationwide~ NRC Boss
The Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), Kayode Opeifa, has revealed that the federal government is preparing to launch an extensive railway expansion project, aimed at linking numerous cities across the nation. Speaking on Saturday during Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ programme, Opeifa noted that the upcoming railway lines will connect more cities “than we have ever seen.” “States are even receiving grants from the national government to develop their rail lines, and Lagos State is utilising track access on the Red Line,” he said. “Kaduna is coming on board very soon, Niger is supporting us on the narrow gauge, except for the recent Mokwa flooding that caused disruption. The plan was to take rail, this festival, three days ago, to Minna, Ilorin, and Offa, so they are supporting that initiative.” The NRC Managing Director also noted Ogun State’s rail link and highlighted new projects, including the Jos-Bukuru line in Plateau State. “That is because this government supported the removal of rail from the exclusive list to the concurrent list. So, state governments can now not only develop rail on their own, but they are also being supported by grants,” he explained. “In the current budget, 400 billion naira was allocated to support states. I know some states have already benefited.” “What this government is doing is ensuring that the burden is no longer solely on the national government. However, the national government still owes a duty to every Nigerian to connect the cities.” He added that the government is developing rail infrastructure across all regions, with plans nearly finalised for the South-West, and progress being made in the South-East and North-East.

Tinubu’s Aide Aliyu Audu Resigns, Cites One~Party State Agenda
Aliyu Audu, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Affairs, has resigned from his position, citing concerns over the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s apparent drive toward establishing a one-party state. In a resignation letter dated June 8 and submitted via the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Audu stated, “I write to formally tender my resignation as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, effective immediately.” In a follow-up public statement, Audu clarified that his resignation was not an act of rebellion, but a matter of principle and conscience. He expressed unease with what he described as a growing effort to stifle political opposition in Nigeria. “Though I do not align with the PDP, I refuse to be used directly or indirectly as an instrument to reduce Nigeria to a one-party state,” he wrote. “That would be a betrayal of both divine favour and democratic principle.” Audu criticised the current administration’s approach to dissent, warning against authoritarian tendencies reminiscent of past regimes. “If we now begin to silence or crush opposition simply because we have the upper hand, then we are no different from the very system we once criticised under Obasanjo in 2003,” he said. Audu emphasised that democracy must be anchored in ideological diversity rather than political dominance, calling the suppression of opposition voices “politically reckless” and “spiritually dangerous.” While Audu acknowledged and expressed support for some of President Tinubu’s economic reforms, he made it clear that he could no longer align himself with the administration’s political direction. He specifically pointed to what he called the “unholy alliance” between President Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as emblematic of a broader departure from progressive values. “We just differ on political views as I pride myself with being a progressive and a promoter of democratic values, which seems to be lost in the unholy alliance of PBAT with Wike,” he stated.

No Evidence Abacha Stashed Public Funds Abroad~ Wife
Maryam Abacha, widow of the late military Head of State General Sani Abacha, has rejected longstanding claims that her husband embezzled billions of dollars while in office. Mrs. Abacha demanded concrete proof that her husband stashed public funds in foreign accounts. “Who is the witness of the monies that were being stashed? Did you see the signature or the evidence of any monies stashed abroad?” she asked. Mrs Abacha further claimed that the funds her husband reportedly secured for Nigeria “vanished” shortly after his death. “And the monies that my husband kept for Nigeria, in a few months, the monies vanished. People are not talking about that,” she told TVC in a recent interview, implying mismanagement by subsequent administrations. Questioning the motivations behind the continued focus on her husband’s legacy, she said, “Why are you blaming somebody? Is that tribalism or a religious problem or what is the problem with Nigerians? “I pray for Nigerians. I pray for all of us. I pray that we should have goodness in our hearts. We should stop telling lies and blaming people. “Why are we so bad towards each other? Because somebody is a northerner or a southerner, somebody is a Muslim or a Christian, or somebody is nice or… It’s not fair.” Mrs. Abacha also criticised the media, urging journalists to “educate the people” rather than “bastardise people.” She added, “People are not that bad. Twenty-seven years ago and you are still talking about Abacha. He must be very powerful and loved by Nigerians. We thank God for that.” Responding to a remark about the relatively stable economy during her husband’s regime, marked by rising foreign reserves and lower external debt, she reiterated her denial of any wrongdoing, urging critics to present verifiable evidence. “So, where did he steal the money from? So where would he have stolen the money from?” She asked. “And because Nigerians are fools, they listen to everything.” Mrs Abacha emphasised the importance of unity and respect for all Nigerians, saying, “Babangida doesn’t make Nigeria alone. Abacha does not make Nigeria alone. Abiola and everybody, nobody is big enough for Nigeria. We are all very important. “Even the single man on the street is very important. We are all human beings, for goodness sake. All these wahala should stop. Babangida cannot make things or unmake things.”

N'Delta Group Alleges Plot To Sabotage Pipelines, Blackmail Tompolo, Tantita
The Ijaw People's Development Initiative (IPDI) has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by certain elements within the Itsekiri nation to sabotage oil pipelines in Warri South West and Warri North Local Government Areas of Delta State. According to IPDI, the plan is aimed at inciting the Federal Government to revoke the pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, owned by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo. In a statement issued in Warri on Sunday, IPDI’s national president, Comrade Ozobo Austin, described the alleged plot as a deliberate attempt to undermine the significant gains made by Tantita in combating oil theft in the Niger Delta. "The plot, allegedly orchestrated by some Itsekiri miscreants with backing from influential leaders, is designed to create tension and paint Tompolo and Tantita in a bad light before the federal government," the statement said. Ozobo further called on security agencies and the federal government to be vigilant and hold the Itsekiri leadership responsible should any act of pipeline vandalism occur in the area. He noted that despite Tantita’s visible successes in curbing oil theft, efforts have repeatedly been sabotaged by those who continue to shelter and promote illegal bunkering activities under the guise of ethnic loyalty and misinformation campaigns. He stated: “No one can secure the pipelines better than Tompolo. Anyone planning such attacks is working against the interest of Nigeria. The government must not allow itself to be misled by enemies of progress.”
